Plymouth Landfill, Plymouth, NH
Evaluated wetlands impacted during construction of landfill. Nobis was selected by the Town of Plymouth to be the consulting engineer for the final closure of a 5-acre landfill while maintaining their recycling facility on the capped landfill. Nobis conducted a feasibility study for the closure of the Plymouth Municipal Landfill. Investigative studies revealed excess soil material on top of the landfill (that could be utilized in the construction of the final cap system), waste located at the edge of wetland areas, waste tires located in adjacent wetlands, and low levels of contamination in the existing monitoring wells. Nobis developed a two-phase closure approach in order to reclaim usable clean fill and waste tires and address wetland issues at the site. Nobis prepared Phase I final engineering plans, specifications, and the design report to remove usable soils (clean fill), reclaim waste tires, and pull back waste from the adjacent wetlands. Nobis prepared a NHDES Type II Facility Permit Modification and a NHDES Dredge and Fill Permit for the landfill closure.
